"Go on,now," he'd say. "This is grown-ups' time. Why don't you go read one of those books of yours?" He'd close the door, leave me to wonder why it was alwaysgrown-ups' time with him. I'd sit by the door, knees drawn to my chest.
Sometimes I sat there for an hour, sometimes two, listening to their laughter,their chatter.

加州大学伯克利分校一组研究人员在硅上生长了一种1纳米厚的超薄材料,具有铁电性(ferroelectricity),而且效果实际上比厚几纳米的材料强,这是铁电领域的“根本性突破”。
该材料仅相当于两个原子构造块的大小,因此可以以较低的能量有效驱动更小的设备。
这一发现可能创建更多高级电池和传感器,为计算机存储器和逻辑芯片领域也带来了希望。
在仅1纳米厚的薄膜中发现铁电意味着,这些存储单元可以按比例缩小到以前认为不可能的尺寸。
研究发表在Nature上。
