This details then triggered net users’ doubt about his doctorate. Later netizens found that he had submitted a paper that was 40 percent plagiarized. Zhai then was accused of academic plagiarism and fraud, which sparked online backlash and appeals for a thorough investigation. BFA launched an investigation into Zhai's academic integrity on Monday, and Peking University also announced that it will wait for the results of BFA's investigation before deciding whether its offer to Zhai’s post-doctor position will remain or not.
