Hozier
1.《From Eden》:奥斯卡·王尔德Oscar Wilde《歌Chanson》
《From Eden》
“A rope in hand for your other man
To hang from a tree”
是Oscar Wilde《Chanson》中的
“And a hempen rope for your own love
To hang upon a tree”
“Idealism sits prison
chivalry fell on his sword
Innocence died screaming”
Hozier和Wilde同样出身于都柏林圣三一学院,Hozier在十八九岁、二十出头的时候喜欢上了Wilde的作品,除了《From Eden》他的首专中还运用到了很多Wilde的风格,所以有些歌曲的歌词像童话故事,比如《In The Woods Somewhere》《Like Real People Do》
2.《Angel of Small Death and the Codeine Scence》:詹姆斯·乔伊斯James Joyce《一位青年艺术家的画像A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man》
《Angel of Small Death and the Codeine Scence》歌词里的“Shaking the wings of their terrible youth”是直接从James Joyce《A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man》引用过来的。
3.《NFWMB》:威廉·巴特勒·叶芝W.B.Yeats《基督重临The Second Coming》
《NFWMB》歌词
“To Bethlehem, it slouched and then
Must've caught a good look at you”
引用了W.B.Yeats《The Second Coming》中的
“Slouches towards Bethlehem to be born?”
4.《The Noise Making(Sing)》:谢默斯·希尼Seamus Heaney《在井口At The Wellhead》
《The Noise Making(Sing)》整首歌就是根据Seamus Heaney的《At The Wellhead》所创作的。

《My Father》
『Noli me tangere, for Caesar’s I am,And wild for to hold, though I seem tame.』

Jesus said to her, 'Do not cling to me, because I have not yet ascended to the Father. But go to the brothers, and tell them: I am ascending to my Father and your Father, to my God and your God.'
The fresco you see below is 'Noli me tangere' by Giotto di Bondone (1267-1337). The title is Latin for "do not touch me" - Jesus' words to Mary Magdalene that can be found in John 20:17.
