5G expert joins Sondrel
We are delighted that our new FE Design Manager, Khitish Behera, has had his paper on an innovative algorithm for a 5G modem accepted for presentation at the IEEE 5G World Forum. This virtual event takes place on the 10-12 September 2020 https://t.cn/A64ilW1P
Before joining us, Khitish worked for a number of major semiconductor companies such as MediaTek, Marvel and Samsung with a focus on 5G.
The pandemic meant that there was a couple of months between him leaving his previous job and joining us so he decided to use his time and knowledge of 5G being creative. The new algorithm that he created cuts latency by a factor of eight and improves throughput again by a factor of eight in the downlink (DL) transmit chain. It is so novel that he has been able to apply for patent for it.
The paper is titled “An Efficient Low-Latency Algorithm and
Implementation for Rate-Matching and Bit-Interleaving in 5G NR” and covers the theory of the algorithm and, even more importantly, the practical verification of its performance improvements on an FPGA.
Khitish’s expertise in 5G will prove invaluable to us as 5G plays an important role in the next generation of innovative SOCs that we are designing for customers.
