UK’s lead on foreign investment falls
Britain has retained its place as the top European destination for foreign investment, but its lead over France and Germany has narrowed.
The UK attracted 18 per cent of all foreign direct investment into Europe last year, the second straight year of decline for Britain’s share, with investors citing Brexit and transport infrastructure as issues.
An EY survey of foreign investment projects found that while Britain was still the biggest draw, Germany was the most favoured destination for future investment. The UK slipped to third as the most attractive place to invest in future after being overtaken by France.
