Wang Yi-zhou (b. 1969) @wangyizhou_official, born in Jiangsu, currently lives in Shanghai and is a professional full-time artist. He studied successively at Huaiyin Normal University (淮阴师范学院) and Tianjin Academy of Fine Arts (天津美术学院).
In his childhood, he inherited his family's education in Chinese calligraphy, Chinese painting, and ancient literature. He is one of the earliest Chinese artists to study and research Huang Bin-hong (黄宾虹) and majored in oil painting at university. Currently, his works convey his artistic spirit through various media, skills, and techniques.

The ancient Chinese divided paintings into four grades: Néng (能), Miào (妙), Shén (神), Yì (逸), each grade expresses the painter's understanding of nature in different realms among them, the grading of Yì (逸) has reached the selfless expression of temperament. Its control of the screen is precise and freely casual, informal at one go, It fully embodies the spirit of pioneering expressionism.
In the upcoming exhibition -Behold the Mountain, Wang Yi-zhou @汪一舟 explores the experience of the ancients facing nature through decades of artistic accomplishment, meanwhile, it also shows that the ancients could not mechanically describe the objective reality, which is heartfeltly to understand and experience things with the spirit, to achieve the expressive style of painting with spirit and emotion.
