Pray On
How often do you bear a burden
In intercession for the lost?
☘️ How deeply do you feel compassion?
Or do you shun to pay the cost?
☘️ Is prayer for you mere relaxation,
A passing pleasure now and then?
☘️ Or do you pray in intercession
With burdened heart for souls of men?
☘️ How often do you feel the hunger
That cannot rest unsatisfied?
☘️ That keeps you praying ever longer
Until the answer is supplied?
☘️ How often are you lost in praying
Until, forgotten, pass the hours,
☘️ Until you wrestle, not delaying,
And seize the vict'ry from hell's powers.
☘️ How often do the tears unbidden,
How burning tears, course down your cheek
☘️ As on you pray and bear the burden
And for God's promised answer seek?
☘️ 'Tis then you go into the garden
And share with Christ the sweat of blood;
☘️ 'Tis then you lead lost souls to pardon
And bring joy to the heart of God.
☘️ O saint of God, keep praying, pleading;
Pray on, weep on, believe, and fast.
☘️ Faint not nor fear, keep interceding;
God's hour of pow'r will come at last–
☘️ His perfect answer long awaited,
Souls saved and Satan's full defeat,
☘️ Your long desire, with blessing freighted,
And trophies to lay at His feet.
