雨村不耐烦,便仍出来,【甲戌眉批:毕竟雨村还是俗眼,只能识得阿凤、宝玉、黛玉等未觉之先,却不识得既证之后。】【甲戌眉批:未出宁、荣繁华盛处,却先写一荒凉小景;未写通部入世迷人,却先写一出世醒人。回风舞雪,倒峡逆波,别小说中所无之法。】意欲到那村肆中沽饮三杯,以助野趣……

历事炼心
“入世”不是要堕回放纵声色的状态,而是要叫大家诸恶莫作、众善奉行,在世间法中修行,在社会上要积德行善,众善奉行,不以恶小而为之,不以善小而不为。任何世界上的利益、诱惑、贪欲的诱惑,都要把它当作实践佛法的对象,而不执著,不受这种诱惑,这样来历事炼心。这才是真的修行,也是大修行。
Practise mind through experiences in this way
Engaging in the secular world does not mean to degenerate into the state of sensual indulgence, but need us to do no evil deeds and practise all good deeds. Cultivate in the worldly situation, accumulate merits and do good things in the society, practise various kinds of good conducts. Never dare to do anything evil you deem as insignificant nor should you fail to do anything good you consider as trivial. Any greedy temptation of profits or seductions in the world should be treated as the targets to practice Buddha Dharma, without attachment and remain unaffected. Practise mind through experiences in this way is the real cultivation and also the great cultivation.
