A Letter to the PRESIDENT fom a young CHINESE.
SIR,
I RECEIVED the favour of your letter dated 28th March 1784 by Mr. Cox. I remember the pleasure of dining with you in company with Capt. Blake and Sir JOSHUA REYNOLDS ; and I shall always remember the kindness of my friends in England.
THE Chinese book, SHi' KiNG, that contains three hundred Poems with remarks thereon, and the work of Con-fu-tsu, and his grandson, the Tai Ho, I beg you will accept, but to translate the work into English will require a great deal of time ; perhaps three or four years ; and I am so much engaged in business, that I hope you will excuse my not under taking it.
If you wih for any books or other things from Canton, be so good as to let me know, and I will take particular care to obey your orders.
Wishing you health,
I am, S I R,
Your most obedient humble Servant,
WHANG ATONG
To Sir WILLIAM JONES.
Dec. 10,1784.

I like Fu Seoul's sentence: "How much he loves you, how much self-discipline he has, so I will not regulate him very strictly now, nor will I let him keep a distance from other girls, if he loves me, he will deal with anything around, if not handled well, then he is not love, making mistakes is not wrong, but his choice."
