对jay-z的homage有点淡淡的(不知道算不算),vocal虽然听着“平”但实际上起伏在里面藏着,编曲很丰富,一些“电气”sense、一些不那么“浓”的trap、一些gospel+soul包裹着穿插进行的合成器/弦乐/flexin' 打击乐,叙事感随着trackline一点点推进(有几个地方真的觉得很适合donald glover sneak in)。更惊喜的是在有些地方有leon bridges/thundercat/M.I.A.还魂的惊喜感,way mo' fun of a perfect non-intentional blendin'。
besides,很少见哪个rapper一整张所有歌基本都在5-7分钟的,能做到几乎每一首都全长且不无聊本身也是体现flow能力的证据。maybe是自己的一种lifeline historic epic(编制宏大的细节不在少数),讨论了很多关于所处行业应该具备何种心态(like upliftin' women senses)、家族glory and peace、push and struggle still(thru childhood to adolescence/being black in UK etc)... sumn,挺有趣。
who even cares居然我是早就加到歌单里了,难怪听到beat有一种熟悉的陌生感,大概一个月前的随机FM就被推过这首专辑接近尾声的曲目(thundercat is dat u?)。
